As of 2009, over 70% of the homes in the Cape are owner-occupied. There are 434 homes or condos per square mile, meaning that Cape Coral enjoys a low population density. Averaged together, most homes and condos in the Cape were built around 1993. Some are older, but there are also newer or renovated units. Cape Coral itself was only developed in the 1960’s, and didn’t hit it’s boom until the mid-90’s, so most homes on the market are relatively new.
